Three Owl Threads began during a season of life I never expected. In January 2014, I became a stay-at-home mom to my three boys. Like many parents, my days suddenly looked very different, and after getting my "sea legs" with our new routine, I found myself returning to a hobby I had loved years before.
For a long time, my fabric, floss, and needles had been packed away while life was busy. Pulling them back out felt like reconnecting with an old friend. Stitch by stitch, I rediscovered the joy, peace, and creativity that cross stitch had always brought me.
Then something unexpected happened.
I discovered the Flosstube community.
People were making YouTube videos... about cross stitch? I couldn't believe it! I found a welcoming community full of inspiration, resources, friendships, and—let's be honest—plenty of enabling when it came to shopping for beautiful stitching supplies.
In the summer of 2015, I nervously recorded my very first Flosstube video. I was hooked from that moment on.
As I became more involved in the stitching community, I joined a few thread-of-the-month clubs. They were fun, but I kept thinking, "I think I could do this a little differently." That simple thought planted the seed that would eventually become Three Owl Threads.
People often ask where the name came from. During those stay-at-home years, my three boys were absolute night owls, and many of my quiet stitching hours happened long after bedtime. While the house was finally still, I spent countless evenings creating beautiful things with nothing more than fabric, floss, and a needle. Those late-night moments inspired both the name and the heart behind Three Owl Threads.
What began as a creative outlet slowly grew into a small business built around sharing that same joy with others. Today, I'm grateful to offer cross stitch patterns, carefully curated embroidery floss, The Nest Egg Monthly Thread Club, and a place where stitchers can learn, connect, and be inspired.
Life has changed again over the years, and I'm back in the traditional 8-to-5 workforce. But Three Owl Threads remains a labor of love, and I still treasure every opportunity to curate products that fellow stitchers enjoy.
Thank you for visiting, for supporting a dream that grew into a small business, and for allowing me to be part of your creative journey. Whether you've been stitching for decades or are just picking up your very first needle, I hope you'll find inspiration here, discover something new to create, and always feel welcome.
